The Netherlands and Italy have officially qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka. In a thrilling European Qualifier, both teams edged past stiff competition — with Jersey narrowly missing out despite a memorable win over Scotland.

Jersey's Heartbreak: Win Not Enough

Jersey impressed many with a stunning victory over Scotland in the final round of matches. That win gave them hope, but unfortunately, their Net Run Rate (NRR) wasn’t enough to push them into the top two. Despite matching Italy and the Netherlands on points, Jersey’s lower NRR meant they fell just short of a historic qualification.

Italy’s Breakthrough

Italy made headlines by securing a spot in the T20 World Cup for the first time. A string of strong performances and one big-margin win helped boost their NRR just enough to edge out Jersey. It marks a major milestone for Italian cricket and reflects their growing presence on the international stage.

Netherlands Show Their Class

A consistent force in Associate cricket, the Netherlands lived up to expectations with solid performances throughout the qualifier. Their experience in global events helped them handle pressure situations and finish with the best NRR in the group.

Looking Ahead

With qualification sealed, both the Netherlands and Italy will now prepare to compete on the world stage in 2026. For Jersey, it’s a painful exit but one that shows they are knocking on the door of global cricket
