The ongoing Women’s Asian Games 2026 Qualifiers are currently being played without any live broadcast, raising concerns that the Men’s Qualifiers could also go ahead without television or streaming coverage.
Cricket fans across Asia have been left disappointed as there has been no official live streaming or broadcast arrangement for the women’s tournament. Adding to the concern, Malaysian cricketer Virandeep Singh recently revealed through a social media post that teams participating in the Asian Games Qualifiers are required to cover expenses from their own pockets. According to his statement, the high cost of participation has become a major burden for associate nations.
Because of the financial pressure on teams and organizers, there appears to be little interest in investing additional money for a professional live broadcast setup. This has resulted in a major international cricket event taking place without any visual coverage for fans.
The absence of broadcasting not only affects fan engagement but also limits exposure for emerging Asian cricket nations and players who rely on such tournaments to gain recognition on the international stage.
Cricket supporters are now hoping that the ACC will at least arrange a basic live production setup for the Men’s Asian Games Qualifiers. Even a simple streaming arrangement would help fans follow the action and support their national teams.
If the ACC fails to provide coverage, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) could potentially step in to broadcast Nepal’s matches independently using a basic production setup, something many fans have already started requesting on social media.
With Nepal expected to be one of the key teams in the Men’s Qualifiers, the demand for live coverage is only likely to grow stronger in the coming weeks.
