Dev Khanal made his name on the national team from a very young age, many labeling him as Star Boy of Nepali Cricket. Dev Khanal, who is just 19 has a big amount of maturity and experience with him already. Khanal is reliable with the bat and can spin the bowl. Talking about Khanals batting, he can hit the ball everywhere. Similarly, he is also very calm with his batting. He can rotate the strike well and be patient on the pitch as well. Talking about his bowling, he can spin the ball. Dev can help main bowlers take rest and also can take a few crucial wickets.
Despite all of his abilities, Dev Khanal hasnt been getting regular call for the National Team. Dev showed a strong leadership ability in the U-19 World Cup. Also he played crucial knock Vs Afghanistan. Yet, he just ended up in the reserve squad of the T-20 World Cup. Similarly, Dev also hasnt got many opportunities at the National Team. A promising young all-rounder (although he prefers to be called batsman) like him being on the bench isnt a good sign, neither for him nor for the national team. But we must keep in mind that competition to be in the National Team is high. Players like Aarif Seikh also couldnt see themselves playing for Nepal at the World Cup.
NPL could be a great place for Dev Khanal to show why he belongs to National Team. With several national team players under radar with poor performances lately, Dev Khanal should know he is not very far from the national team. Even though, Dev Khanal has shown a strong personality at ODI, he is yet to be tested at T20. In NPL if he is able to live his potential during NPL, most likely doors for the national team will open for Khanal.
